Early Life and Family

Born on January 26, 1986, in Arusha, Tanzania, Millard Ayo is the first child in a family of four. His father, Afrael Ayo, is a businessman and his mother, Mary Ayo, is a teacher. Millard’s family recognized his sharp intellect at a young age, and he was enrolled in school at a very young age.

Education

Millard Ayo’s educational journey is a testament to his determination and passion. He completed his primary education at Patandi Primary School and his secondary education at Akeri Secondary School. He then attended Mbezi Beach High School in Dar Es Salaam, completing his A’level secondary education in 2002.

While waiting for his results, Millard joined Arusha College of Electronics, where he studied electronics, focusing on satellite dish, TV deck, and radio repair. This was a field he was passionate about and enjoyed.

In 2004, Millard joined the East Africa Training Institute to study broadcasting and journalism. This marked the beginning of his journey into the world of media and journalism.

Career

Millard Ayo’s career in media began with a stint at TVZ Zanzibar for five months in 2004. In April 2005, he returned to Dar es Salaam to look for work as his family was facing financial difficulties. He landed a job at Wapo Radio 98.0 in May 2005. Despite the initial challenges, including not being paid because the radio station was owned by a church that did not have funds, Millard persisted and made the most of the opportunity.

He later joined ITV/Radio One in 2008, where he gained popularity through various programs, particularly MILAZO 101 and ITV sports news. His big break came in November 2010 when he joined Clouds FM/TV and started hosting the AMPLIFAYA show. He was later given the responsibility of hosting CLOUDS FM Top 20 in June 2013.

Achievements

Millard Ayo’s hard work and dedication have earned him several awards, including the Best Broadcaster award in 2006 from the Tanzania Radio Awards, and the Best Website award in 2012 from Vodacom Tanzania and African Stars. He was also the only journalist to receive an honorary award from the family of the late actor Steven Kanumba.
